Dan Wood was called to the Bar in 2008.

He holds a BSc. in Politics with Economics from The University of Bath and a (First Class) post-graduate LL.B from Nottingham Law School.

Prior to successfully completing pupillage at Ropewalk Chambers, Dan was a finalist at the Lincoln’s Inn Inter-Provider Moot and obtained an LL.M, specialising in commercial law and corporate insolvency from The University of Nottingham.

Dan practises in all areas of civil law and specialises in the fields of business and property, personal injury, fraudulent claims, employment and regulatory law.

Business and Property

Dan advises, drafts and appears at all levels in relation to a wide range of commercial and property-related matters ranging from insolvency (personal and corporate) to trusts and contractual disputes.

Notable cases have involved boundary disputes, the construction of negotiable instruments and contracts for sales of goods and services, the law of unconscionable behaviour and consumer credit litigation such as the enforceability of credit-hire agreements.

Personal Injury

He is experienced in all areas of personal injury litigation from advising on prospects of success, tactics and quantum to representing both claimants and defendants at hearings at all levels within the County Court.

Particular areas of specialism within this field include disclosure (both before and after issue of proceedings), applications in relation to Summary and Default Judgment and quantification of damages in relation to infant claimants.

Dan is always happy to consider instructions on the basis of a conditional fee agreement.

Fraudulent Claims

He specialises in addressing road traffic accident claims involving alleged staged accidents, phantom passengers and low velocity impacts.

Frequently advising, drafting and advocating at trial and interim hearings, he is highly familiar with the unique matrix of factual issues and tactics involved in this area.

Employment

Recent hearings in which he has been instructed have involved unfair dismissals, redundancy decisions, discrimination claims and contractual disputes.

Dan has a particular interest in discrimination claims under the Equality Act 2010.

Regulatory

He is familiar with all elements of inquest practice and procedure, providing step-by-step representation and advice for bereaved families and other interested parties.

Particular areas of specialism include the role and extent of evidence at inquests and the scope of the verdict.

General

Away from the Bar, Dan enjoys international travel and is an enthusiastic sportsman.
