Deborah Davies was called to the Bar in 1993.

Having achieved a good grounding in all areas of general common law, she now specialises in Personal Injury Law. Until recently Deborah continued to practise in employment law, which continues to assist her in her personal injury practice.

Personal Injury

Deborah acts for both Claimants and Defendants.

She represents parties in settlement negotiations (recent experience of mediation in a Court of Appeal case), civil proceedings, criminal injury compensation claims (abuse claims as below and assault claims by staff in a care home setting) and at coroners court.

Her personal injury work includes accidents at work, road traffic accidents, highway and public liability claims.

Deborah has a particular interest in harassment/stress at work claims.  She has recently completing a 6 day trial, defending a claim against a senior female manager for bullying/harassment.

Deborah has a special interest in historic abuse claims, including abuse in care establishments, foster care, individual assault claims and social care negligence.  In the last 15 years she has acted for Claimants in numerous group actions, with and without leading counsel.

Deborah has extensive experience of issues relating to limitation, representing Claimants at preliminary hearings in historic abuse claims.

Clinical Negligence

Deborah has over 15 years’ experience in clinical negligence claims.

Recent examples include representing the family of the Deceased at Inquest, as a forerunner to civil proceedings, in a case involving the development of pulmonary embolism following hospitalisation and in a case in which dental negligence was alleged, arising from the failure to identify the presence of a tumour, leading to a damning narrative verdict.

Disease

She has extensive experience in disease claims, including noise induced hearing loss, upper limb disorder and vibration injury claims and dermatitis.

She frequently addresses limitation as a preliminary issue and at final trial for both Claimants and Defendants in the context of industrial disease.

Fraudulent Claims

As a personal injury practitioner of many years, Deborah has either pursued or been required to meet numerous allegations of fraud.

Deborah is a working mother, with two children of primary school age.  She is a keen sports woman, with achievements in Judo at national standard.  She is an accomplished skier and a reluctant runner (marathon and half marathon).  She spends her spare time indulging her passions for rock music, cooking and gardening.
