Costs

The area of costs has become, certainly over recent years, one of increasing importance and the subject of intense scrutiny.  What was once considered by some to be little more than an adjunct to litigation has evolved into a separate, discrete area of law where specialist knowledge is essential.

Ropewalk Chambers has an outstanding costs law team which undertakes all aspects of costs work in every court and tribunal up to and including costs arguments and assessments in the Supreme Court.

We frequently act on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants under solicitors’ and costs organisations’ instruction in respect of costs issues and proceedings in all types of litigation, ranging from personal injury to, increasingly, commercial litigation.  The team offers a depth of knowledge, with many members of the group being well known in other areas of work, which enables a breadth of experience to be brought to bear in a multi-disciplinary approach.

Individual members have appeared in some of the leading costs cases and in the costs aspects of a range of group actions.

The team offers advice, drafting services and representation across the spectrum of costs work, including detailed assessments, Appellate work, non-party costs and wasted costs, and non-contentious advisory work on retainers, CFA’s, CCFAs, ATE policies, and regulatory issues including formation of CMC’s, LDP’s and ABS’s.

Members of the group offer client seminars on costs matters.  If this is of interest to you please contact the Senior Clerk, Tony Hill, or Deputy Senior Clerk, Alan Odiam.
