Personal Injury
It is in the area of personal injury that Ropewalk Chambers is probably best known. Over the years we have appeared in some of the most high profile litigation in this field, including numerous appearances in the House of Lords / Supreme Court and group actions.
We undertake personal injury claims ranging from the most complex group actions to minor accidents. We have a strength and depth within Chambers that allows us to offer representation at all levels of experience.
Members’ experience encompasses all areas including CICA awards; disaster claims; employers’, occupiers’ and public liability; product liability; road traffic accidents and Highways Act claims; sports injuries, psychiatric injuries, inquests and Compensation Recovery Unit Appeals.
We have experience in catastrophic claims of the utmost severity. Members have represented both Claimants and Defendants in claims ranging from brachial plexus injuries to paraplegia, tetraplegia and quadriplegia. Members are fully conversant with claims arising from fatal accidents, amputations, crushing, spinal (corda equine etc.), orthopaedic/neurological and brain injuries (including those with pre-morbid deficits, personality disorders and / or learning difficulties).
Members also have experience in local authority funding matters, complex pension claims, accommodation matters, rehabilitation and care claims and cases with intricate accounting issues and those requiring consideration and implementation of periodical payments.
We are regularly instructed in disputes between insurance companies, third party and contribution proceedings. Members have advised insurers, both through solicitor’s instruction and directly on matters of policy construction.
We have embraced and are adept in the process of negotiation at Joint Settlement Meetings.
We regularly work for most major unions and on behalf of individuals. We are amenable to all legitimate funding arrangements.
We have long-standing relationships with the majority of insurers in the UK. We are one of a very small number of Chambers nationwide that is on the Zurich panel to cover all lines of their business. We are also a panel Chambers for various other insurers, the Motor Insurers Bureau and for several local authority consortia.
We welcome the opportunity to formalise service level agreements and fee protocols with our funding partners or with solicitor’s firms. If this is of interest to you please contact the Senior Clerk, Tony Hill.
Members of the group offer client seminars on personal injury claims. Again, if this is of interest please contact the Senior Clerk, Tony Hill, or Deputy Senior Clerk, Alan Odiam.
