Planning and Environmental
The Planning and Environmental practitioners at Ropewalk Chambers pride themselves on their accessibility and common sense approach. Members of the group offer advice and representation on all planning and environmental law matters on behalf of local authorities, government agencies, NGO's, landowners, developers, objectors and other interested parties.
We regularly appear at public inquiries and hearings, in court (including in particular judicial review hearings) and in all and any civil and criminal applications and trials arising in these areas of law.
We have extensive experience in the conduct of major planning inquiries and in representing local authorities in Local Plan and UDP Inquiries, including those on special topics such as minerals and major infrastructure projects. In addition, we have specialists with particular experience in the following areas: compulsory purchase, heritage, nature conservation, pollution, village greens, rights of way, map modifications and rating.
Individual members of the group belong to the Professional Negligence Bar Association, the Planning and Environmental Bar Association, the Administrative Law Bar Association and the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association (UKELA).
One member is an Assistant Commissioner of the Parliamentary Boundary Commission. Another is a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Members of the group offer client seminars on planning and environmental matters. If this is of interest to you please contact the Senior Clerk, Tony Hill, or Deputy Senior Clerk, Alan Odiam.
