Katie accepts instructions from Claimants and Defendants across all of Ropewalk’s core areas and regularly appears in fast track trials, CMC/CCMCs, applications, Part 8 hearings and small claims.
Katie is a Lord Denning, Lord Brougham and Hardwicke Scholar of Lincoln’s Inn.
In her spare time, Katie plays basketball and enjoys going to the theatre.
Katie is regularly instructed in NIHL claims, often on behalf of multiple defendants. She has considerable experience drafting statements of case, advising on liability and quantum and is regularly instructed as trial counsel, as well as appearing in interim hearings, including CMCs, CCMCs, applications for medical evidence and applications for strike out. Katie has a strong understanding of the more technical aspects of NIHL cases, including limitation, interpretation of the 1972 Code of Practice and de minimis claims.
Katie is regularly instructed in all types of personal injury litigation from disposal hearings to fast track trials and has considerable experience with occupier’s liability, employer’s liability, highways, road traffic claims. Katie’s paperwork practice includes advising on liability, quantum and procedure, and drafting statements of case, including complex schedules and counter-schedules. Katie willingly accepts instructions from both Claimants and Defendants.
Katie regularly acts for both Claimants and Defendants in credit hire claims and is well versed in the law on issues of enforceability, need, period, impecuniosity, rate and intervention.
Katie’s background is in the medical sciences and she has a particular interest in developing a clinical negligence practice, having worked as a clinical negligence paralegal prior to commencing pupillage and having volunteered with AvMA during her legal studies. Katie’s background in biomedical sciences puts her at an advantage in dealing with the often complex issues that arise in such cases.
Katie has previously been instructed on noting briefs and is keen to develop her practice in this area.
Katie has experience with landlord and tenant disputes relating to possession, rent arrears and committal proceedings, both on the small claims and fast tracks. Katie has a particular interest in trusts and is keen to accept instructions concerning property ownership disputes.
Katie has experience with a variety of contractual and commercial disputes in the County Court.
