Myles joined Ropewalk Chambers in 2016.
His principal areas of interest and expertise are personal injury, industrial disease, travel and costs law. He acts for Claimants and Defendants and is regularly instructed to represent clients at court and joint settlement meetings.
Myles, an accredited advocacy trainer, is instructed for his effective trial advocacy, be it his deft handling of lay-witnesses or experts, or his fluent narrative.
Myles also has a strong paperwork practice, priding himself on being able to identify the core issues and present complex legal or factual concepts and issues in assimilable terms and language.
Myles presents seminars and lectures to solicitors and insurers. Recently, he has lectured on developments as to jurisdiction and applicable law in cross-border cases and has delivered seminars on the Civil Procedure Rules and ‘solicitors’ best practice’.
Myles practices in all aspects of personal injury law and is regularly instructed by respected national firms representing Claimants and Defendant insurers in his areas of particular interest, road traffic accidents (especially those involving [motor] cyclists or pedestrians), employers Liability (in particular, construction site accidents and accidents involving heavy machinery) and accidents abroad claims.
Myles advises and acts in serious injury cases, including traumatic brain injury, spinal injury and chronic pain.
Myles acts for Claimants and Defendants in disease cases, specialising in noise-induced hearing loss and hand-arm vibration syndrome cases.
Myles is instructed by respected firms with links to trade unions as well as insurers who value his sensible advice as well as his effective trial advocacy.
Having lived in Spain for four years (2006 – 2010) where he worked for an Anglo-Spanish law firm with a personal injury department, Myles has considerable experience of advising in holiday claims raising issues of jurisdiction and/or applicable law from both the ‘foreign’ perspective as well as domestic perspective.
Myles regularly advises as to the instruction of, and holds conferences with, foreign law / ‘local standards’ experts.
Myles is fluent in Spanish and is perfectly at ease reading and advising on legal documents or correspondence written in Spanish.

In addition to regularly attending CCMC’s, Myles is knowledgeable and skilled in contentious costs litigation and is instructed to advise on costs issues and represent parties in detailed assessments.
