Rochelle was educated in China, Singapore and England.

She graduated from the University of Warwick and obtained a Very Competent on the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Law School. After successfully completing pupillage at Ropewalk Chambers, she became a tenant in 2006. She has travelled extensively and speaks fluent Chinese (Mandarin).

Rochelle has extensive experience in personal injury, clinical negligence, disease and fraudulent claims litigation.

Clinical Negligence

Rochelle has a busy clinical negligence practice. She has a particular interest in this area of work and has represented both Claimants and Defendants in a wide range of clinical negligence claims involving NHS trusts, private hospitals, General Practitioners and dentists.

She has extensive experience in the field of clinical negligence and has been instructed in a wide range of cases such as those involving failure to diagnose and treat ectopic pregnancies, failure and delay in diagnosis and treatment leading to deaths, treatment carried out without informed consent, negligent performance of (general and cosmetic) surgeries resulting in complications and personal injury.

Recent instructions include cases of cleavage saving mastectomy, delay in the diagnosis of breast cancer, needle tract seeding, negligently performed eye surgery and failure to diagnose high grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Rochelle is very skilled in dealing with medical experts from different disciplines and is highly experienced in advising on complex issues of breach of duty and causation. She frequently receives positive feedbacks from instructing solicitors for her thoroughness and is particularly good at establishing a good rapport with lay clients.

As part of her clinical negligence practice, Rochelle has also developed considerable experience in representing families at inquests where clinical negligence proceedings are contemplated. By reason of her considerable court experience, Rochelle is particularly skilled at handling expert and lay witness evidence at such inquests.


Rochelle has considerable experience in representing families and other interested parties at Inquests and Pre-Inquest Reviews which often involve complex questions of neglect and causation.

Rochelle is highly experienced in handling expert and lay witness evidence at Inquests and often provide advice (both before and after the Inquests) to her clients with regard to the issues of procedure, witness and expert evidence.


Rochelle has a busy and successful practice in a range of disease claims.

Rochelle is highly experienced in dealing with noise-induced hearing loss claims. She is often asked to provide written advice on a range of issues such as limitation, breach of duty (including engineering evidence) and causation. She is skilled in handling expert medical evidence both in conference and at Court.

Rochelle has extensive experience in dealing with claims arising out of the breach of COSHH Regulations, including claims of respiratory (e.g. occupational asthma) and dermatological conditions (e.g. contact dermatitis).

As part of her disease practice, she also receives regular instructions in cases involving HAVS / CTS, work-related upper limb / back disorders, mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer, and occupational stress.

Rochelle is experienced in representing clients at limitation hearings, Fast and Multi Track trials. She frequently advises clients in conference and in writing, and is experienced in handling expert evidence.

Product Liability

Rochelle has extensive experience in product liability claims under the Consumer Protection Act 1987. She is instructed by both Claimants and Defendants in relation to complicated issues of breach of duty and causation.

Rochelle’s particular strength lies in the thoroughness of her approach, which assists her clients in putting forward the strongest case possible both at pleadings stage and at trial. She is very experienced in dealing with complicated expert evidence and is skilled at handling lay and expert witnesses.

Recent instructions include: acting for a multi-national company in defending a claim arising out of an alleged defect in their product; and acting for a Defendant in a personal injury claim arising from consumption of food product with various potential sources of contamination.

Personal Injury

Rochelle has a busy and successful practice involving higher value personal injury claims. She regularly represents clients at Multi Track trials and joint settlement meetings.

Rochelle is experienced in Fatal Accidents Act claims and claims involving catastrophic and psychiatric injuries.

She regularly advises on all aspects of liability, causation, quantum and procedure. She is experienced in handling expert evidence in conference and at court.

She frequently acts for local authorities and national companies in the context of highways claims and employers’ and public liability claims.

As part of her personal injury practice, Rochelle also represents interested parties (including care homes) at Inquests.


Rochelle has extensive experience in dealing with higher value personal injury claims arising out of serious road traffic accidents. She is often instructed to represent clients in Multi Track trials where issues of fraud and fundamental dishonesty are raised.
